Sport Music and FUN for the Very Young
London, 9th June 2008 – Pilot franchisees sought for new British developed program that inspires children to get active.
Teddy Tennis is a fantastic new teaching programme that uses music and pictures to inspire children aged 3½ to 5½ to get active and to learn to play tennis is seeking pilot franchisees in the UK.
“Its taken 6 years to develop but now we are ready” said Richard Bean, Co-founder of Teddy Tennis. Bean continued, “Our system has been extensively market tested with the most demanding of clients, 3½ to 5½ year olds; they tell you exactly how it is and I am delighted to say they love it”.
Teddy Tennis has been developed in Holland Park, West London and this year alone, over 500 children have participated in the programme. Teddy Tennis teaching is made up of a series of lessons all of which use music and pictures to inspire the children to take part and to learn. The lessons progress from beginner’s right up to an advanced Teddy Tennis level.
Aside from getting children active and teaching them to play tennis, Teddy Tennis enhances co-ordination, grows confidence, develops communication skills and introduces young children to the concept of learning.
Notes for editors
1.Music is used in all Teddy Tennis lessons. It provides the rhythm that is key to playing tennis successfully. Music helps speed up the learning process and it also increases the children’s attention span, but above all it makes doing exercise and tennis fun. The words to the songs relate directly to the exercises or games being played and tell the children what to do. The children love the music and they very quickly pick up the words and sing along.
2.The pictures of teddy bears characters also play an important roll in every Teddy Tennis lesson. They are used by the Teddy Tennis coaches to show the children what they are to do in each game and exercise. The children really relate to the teddy bear characters in these pictures, they see them as roll models and want to copy everything the teddy bears do.
3.Each game and activity has been given a special Teddy Tennis name that appeals to young children; most activities and games have had a song written specifically to accompany participation in that game or activity and every game and activity has a picture of the teddy bears playing the game or activity.
